My Inspiron 9400 (also called 1705) seems a little fragile on the hinges, but otherwise it works great and is fast (using Vista!).
I like their laptops and their servers.
I'm not thrilled with their service though.
The reason I have the 9400 is because my 3 year old fully loaded Dell 9100 died last year while still under warranty. It took over 2 weeks of arguing with Dell support which included shipping the laptop twice for repair before they gave up and offered me the 9400 (fully loaded with new warranty - I purchased additional 3 yr warranty too). It was a complete pain in the butt being without the machine, but at least I have a much newer machine now.
