Its well worth going to a big dealer where you can see a lot of screens side by side playing the same thing. The difference is huge.

>Keep in mind that most contrast ratios reported by the manufacturers are inflated. It is difficult to tell which is better without viewing them side-by-side and then by watching specific scenes to note the difference. Also 1080i is actualy 1920x1080 if this is accurate:

>>Kevin, what models are they? Is it the Olevia 537H? If so, that 1080i seems to translate to 1366 x 768 resolution.
>>
>>Hi, yes, it's the Olevia 537H, thanks. I think the resolutions are the same. The Sharp has 6000:1 contrast ratio, while the Olevia's is 1600:1.
>>
>>Based on reviews, I'm sorting of leaning towards the Sharp - the Olevia seems to average about 4 stars out of 5, with most people saying it's a good HD LCD TV for 'budget conscious', with exceptional sound.
>>
>>Normally, I'm the kind of person who will spend more on a computer than a TV, and was planning on buying the Olevia tomorrow morning, but then we found an ad for the Sharp, and that one is described by many as purely stunning.
>>
>>If the Sharp were a thousand, I might learn towards the Olevia....but since the Sharp is basically half-off, we're probably going to get it.
