>>I just meant "leave enough so they can survive to pay the rest", IOW create a payment plan. Just like any other damage is taken off one's salary until paid.

If they made up a social security number and used a different one at each place they worked, how can they go back and present that # to apply those tax payments once they are legal? Most don't even know the number they put down. All things to be worked out.

Their employers didn't burn their payrolls, did they? That would help, I presume, although I think a lot of them would be represented by the same guy on the official payroll.

But that's employer's doing.

Must be a nightmare. So did they give you a new SSN or what?

>Sometimes the IRS will allow for a payment plan and sometimes they will just grab every bit of your income from your bank account automatically and freeze the account. Then comes jail for tax evasion.

It's nice to know there's a system out there that applies equally to everybody.

I really meant a realistic payment plan, in form of automatic deduction from the salary.

> There have been numerous suits when the IRS freezes bank accounts and takes not only income but social security payments and disabled payments as well which by law they cannot do. It takes a lot of legal fees to sue and get it fixed and by then the person is destroyed and without money for food and housing. Many cannot afford the legal fees to get it resolved.

Nice... so what are those people supposed to do? How are they supposed to make any money to pay these taxes?

> My point is that I don't think unpaid taxes should be forgiven for illegal immigrants unless they are forgiven for citizens as well and if you forgive unpaid taxes, who will pay taxes at all?

Unpaid taxes shouldn't be forgiven to anyone - or is everyone else an idiot to pay them?
