Yup, sometimes innocent people die. Innocent people get hit by cars, stabbed, poisoned, strangled,
and the like.

If someone points a gun at you bent on killing you, would you say, "I'm a pacifist and I don't
believe in guns"? Do you think the murdering thug will care at all? All you did was tell him
that you are unarmed and that he can then kill you at his convenience.

I'll send flowers to your funeral.
