Speaking only for myself, it has to do with what one is trading on. Pam doesn't have any actual talent, so she is trading entirely on her body. I find that relatively objectionable when compared with someone trading on [at least a perceived] acting ability or other real talent.

If two people are outwardly attractive, I will certainly appreciate the one trading on talent far more than the one trading only on looks. In fact, in many cases, the level of talent often creates a sort of anticipation that enhances the appearance.

That, of course is only with regard to those people I see but don't actually know. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and for me, trading on looks detracts from my perception of someone's beauty.

And yes, the stupid adulation of vacant minds does add to the problem.
