>I have read many messages in the UT about backing up application data from inside if VFP using third party utilities such as FoxSQZ and DynaZip. However, many comments highlight problems with these products which I would rather avoid - FoxSQZ floppy drive not ready, and DynaZip having problems with files spanning disks.

This may come 5 months too late, but for the record the FoxSQZ floppy drive not ready issue was addressed long ago, and had to do with MS release 2 of Windows 95. We have been using it without a problem, although I am looking into DynaZip to be PkZip compatible. The windows 95 backup would be nice to access, but keep in mind it is not installed by default. That means you would likely have to get your users to install it off of their original Win95 cd-rom. In my experience, this can be a tougher task than writing my own backup system!! Another major drawback is our past experience using the DOS 4 built in backup system. Guess what wasn't there is DOS 5. With operating system updates coming out so frequently, you wouldn't want to be forced to re-visit your backup situation every time MS decides to change their backup system.(trust me)

Marcus.
