Any corn farmer could tell you the answer :)

Sugar ethanol if far more efficent and don't have any impact in the chain food. But most of this should be imported from other countries (like mine). American farmers have lobbied so hard on this that in the recently approved FTA between USA and Peru this was explicitely excluded.
