What am I doing up at this ungodly hour? I went to bed at a reasonable time, around 11 (we get up at 6:15 on school days), then woke up a couple hours later. I decided it would be a good time to s**tcan Norton SystemWorks and SpySweeper in favor of AVG Internet Security, on the advice of the tech wiz who is recovering my backup hard drive. (Whoops, I buried the lead. He's getting it all back, close to 70 gig. His part is all done, now it is running an automated process that looks like it will finish sometime this afternoon). He also recommended SpyBot Search & Destroy, Windows Defender, and HouseCall, saying those are the programs he uses to protect his own PCs. I guess he doesn't want to become his own customer <g>.

AVG is running its first full scan and finding lots of things it thinks need attention, much of it apparently brought in by FireFox during its time alive on this computer. Once that is done I can get some more sleep before the alarm goes off.
