Alcohol is a strange thing.
I have seen repeated in several families, including mine:
Dad is an alcoholic.
Children (of Dad) are very sensitive on the subject and remain "clean". Occasional drinkers who, if they sense a looming problem (they did have a model to learn from), stop the stuff.
Children of the children often become alcoholics.
It's a pretty bad cycle.
