I know you think that. I'm just pointing out that at least to me, a message with an explanation or answer is of more value than a message with a link.
The bigger point I'm trying to make is that we all gain by reading more than one explanation of the same issue. Sometimes, the way person A explains makes more sense to person B, while the way person C explains makes more sense to person D. Sometimes, it's just about having the information reinforced.
I think there is a place for links, especially when the answer is long or complex. In that case, linking to an article or website makes sense. But for a brief solution, one that takes only a paragraph or two, I think having someone write the answer out contributes more to both the community as a whole and the person providing the solution than posting a link.
