Thanks to both you and Mike for the offer. Lynn just brought me another bag of books from one of my 'not yet read' piles. So far in the 5 weeks I've been laid up, I've managed to get through (I think) 23 books, and I still have a ways to go before I run out. Also there are a couple that I want to re-read (The Sotweed Factor by John Barth and Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon). I just have to get to a point where I can get up the energy to face them.

Since I got to this place ('pre-rehab'), I've not been able to read as much because they spend more time fussing over my legs with dressings and lotions etc. Also, now that have acess to the internet there is less time spent reading. I also did the TV rental so I could watch the Raptors games and that uses up some of the time I was using to read.

If I start to run out before I get out of here, I'll take you and Mike up on your offers.

>Since I seem to remember you have pretty good taste in literature, you need any books? I hav a pretty extensive collection of books on mp3 as well I gt set up for you to DL from my FTP site if you just want to lie back and listen ( good way to block out environments like hospitals and waiting rooms when it is hard to read )

>>That's very kind of you Mike. I also received the email you sent to Lynn. For now, I guess I have visitors enough, and Lynn brings me dinner every Friday evening (Swiss Chalet so far). But thanks for the offer. If I do think of anything, I'll let you know.

>>>Hi Alan

>>>If you need anything, just ask and I'll see what I can do. I had my appendix out when I was 16 so I'd even come visit you to help break (pun intended) up the monotony!

>>>>Thanks to everybody. Just to set the record straight, she's my best friend, not my wife. But be that as it may, what actually happened is that I tore the tendons to the quads above the knee in both legs, and broke my right ankle in 2 places.
>>>>
>>>>The hospital where I was until yesterday, has no internet access. I'm now in a different hospital in 'pre-rehab' waiting until I'm ready to go into actual rehab. At the moment I'm not allowed to bend my knees at all. Physio comes and bends them for me each day (I have to be completely passive), but otherwise, I wear Zimmer braces on both legs. My ankle is no longer in a cast, but it's in an ankle stirrup.
