I read recently that there is a strata of vegans who are even more committed to it as a lifestyle than regular vegans. Some word was coined last year to describe them. I forget the word but it was included in the New York Times magazine's annual trends issue at the end of the year. A woman wrote in saying that's great and that's me. She said she won't even date a man who isn't a vegan, adding that she would rather stay home with her dogs. Maybe I am just unenlightened but my reaction was whew, I would rather she be at home with her dogs than on a date with me <g>. Not that I have anything against veganism but zealots of all types make me wary.
