I would certainly hope they are vegan dogs. ( and that one night they don't have some kind of atavistic realisation that while their dog-food is made of soy and tofu the sleeping human in the other room is made of ... )

>I read recently that there is a strata of vegans who are even more committed to it as a lifestyle than regular vegans. Some word was coined last year to describe them. I forget the word but it was included in the New York Times magazine's annual trends issue at the end of the year. A woman wrote in saying that's great and that's me. She said she won't even date a man who isn't a vegan, adding that she would rather stay home with her dogs. Maybe I am just unenlightened but my reaction was whew, I would rather she be at home with her dogs than on a date with me <g>. Not that I have anything against veganism but zealots of all types make me wary.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
