>The music industry, which has been transformed as much as any other business, is a good example. Anyone with a microphone and a broadband connection can put their music out. It still has to be noticed. That part hasn't gotten much easier than it ever was.

The "industry" side of music is dismal.

Just like the "industry" side of technology.

They are old institutions mostly standing in the way of the people actually doing business.

The thing is all trade journals and media covering either "industry" is part of that system, and isn't going to deny its existence.

Of course, its surprising to see MTV tells it like it is. They're supposed to be all Punk, but we thought they went all Corporate. Glad to see there is still some punk left in them.

Remember that OK GO! video that was on MTV all the time?

The guys on the treadmills?

That was originally a YouTube video that managed to get noticed.

That doesn't prove anything, of course.

It's just a nice story that gives me much to be hopeful and grateful for.

Viva la YouTube!
