Careers in Fox, at least from my standpoint, was a success. Blindly staying with the tool in the face of reality - now that is a failure.

and

One need not go any further than the ex-leaders of the Fox community that are no longer around - that have moved on. The most successful people remaining in Fox will not come close to achieving the success these people will achieve.

This smells like a setup...because these are certainly more true than not true....and stating reasons why will no doubt generate the kind of reactions that occured when JVP initially made the statements. But since I don't solve my problems by twitting and avoiding.....

On #1...that's true of ANY tool. Let me take this in another direction - I love Crystal Reports, and still believe it is the best report writer around. However, two years ago I started having clients with requirements to use SSRS...and so I adapted.

On #2...I absolutely agree with that. It is a statement of comparison. Aside from the fact that a # of major minds have "moved on", let's take a look at another factor. Given every downward trend of VFP in the last several years, it would approach the metaphysically impossible to achieve the same level of success. Fewer attendees at DevCon....few companies looking for Fox developers....fewer decent periodicials...

So, if you want to play this dance, fine...just so long as we name the tune it really is.
