I presume your new machine is having trouble reading the older CD-ROM? Are you sure the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive in the newer computer is operating correctly? One thing that you might try is hook the old and new machines up in a network, share the CD/DVD drive on the older machine and install through the shared drive. On occasion I've run into situations where a copy made on a CD/DVD burner worked when the original didn't (obviously the disc had to be burned on another machine which could reliably read the original).
