We have regular reports now in the UK of lorries getting stuck in very small lanes because their satnavs told them to go that way.

>A small road is a two-lane road in a small German town that's only as wide as a single lane over here and you're trying to maneuver a tank around a turn on it! :o)

>>You have more experience with Irish roads than I do so I stand corrected. They seemed awfully small to me compared to American roads, but apparently I made too much of it.

>>>Hi,

>>>Not sure I agree with Mike about driving in Ireland. In much of Ireland, although roads can be small, they are also very quiet. Compared to the UK I *enjoy* driving there (but I'm used similar country lanes here). OTOH it's great for cycling also - mostly not too hilly, not too flat.

Which might also add to the sense of adventure, of course, as long as you are prepared for it and allow extra driving time.
