Thanks Charles, those are really good suggestions. You correctly guessed my first language is Spanish and I like the consulting idea, actually that's what I was doing before coming to the States.

Make your presence and abilities known to everyone in the local Spanish speaking community. There may be demand for computer consulting, small application programming or training that you would be better qualified to fill than English-only speakers in your area. You might be able to get a consulting practice going while you are looking for employment and developing clients in that way would look good to a prospective employer as well.
