>Back when I lived in Jacksonville we spent several evenings out off the coast at mayport watching manta rays jump. Many were much bigger than our boat (size and weight wise). I'm not really sure why they were jumping - chasing food just under the surface or just for fun or whe but they were absolutely amazing to watch.

I was at the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas in January and they have a manta ray there that is about 13 ft. across. They said it will be lifted, via helicopter, and taken to the ocean in a month or so because it is getting too big for their aquarium. They are fun to watch.
