>>Remember New Coke? The product Coca Cola bet the company on but was rejected by consumers? Eventually it led to Coca Cola Classic, which was a success.

>>MS should take a lesson from them. It may be as simple as extending sales for XP until Vista is accepted. In the mean time it may lead to panic buying! It could be worse. Eventually MS will get Vista right. I have noticed that it is risky to bet against MS's deep pockets and staying power. But first they must get Vista right.

MS will do something but it can't be discontinuing sales of XP. Buzzing about future products will keep people from doing desperate things but in the end they have to fix Vista. We bought a Vista machine (dual core) and the person requested that it be changed to XP because of performance. Way back MS used to say to their developers that there is no substitute for speed, but they have forgotten.
