I don't go to Wiki much and follow the grudge matches even less ardently, but I have to admit I don't ever remember seeing signs of this clash outside of UT. I know there is the added complication that the animosity between Whil and YKW is probably more intense than that of SB and YKW. I guess you are suggesting there is some other force trying to stir the pot? The Wiki statement seemed pretty mild, the temporary change seemed a minor correction and putting it back to original didn't seem a really big deal.

I guess anything is possible, given the reports of general bizarreness and Michel's seemingly sincere belief that there is mischeif afoot and that he needs to tread very carefully for legal reasons.

I guess I've been remarkably sheltered from this stuff. During the period of my life when I had put myself in an arena where there were real conflicting agendas and animosities it was dead serious, usually involved violence and did not provide much satisfaction or ego stroking. Since then I prefer to sidestep the drama if I can <g> I do know there is a Chinese curse "May your life be filled with lawyers."

I've notice some formerly very vocal people who seem to thrive on drama are keeping a lower profile so perhaps there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes at UT I'm oblivious to.

>Charles, I take your point ;-) But SB hasn't used his site to target you-know-who (YKW) at all that I've seen. In fact, if pages appeared that mentioned YKW in an absurd or negative light, they were promptly removed. The flavor was of general disinterest and shrug. This feels different.

>Have you ever been subjected to legal bluster? I have. IME all responses have to be calm and rational. You provide no grounds for further complaint and distraction. Sometimes it makes sense to decide to action their demands, especially if it costs very little and/or can be done in a fashion that doesn't reward the complainant. Assuming the archives are pdf or some format that makes it difficult to simply remove articles, I'd be inclined to offer a large purple box over any or all articles requested by this author. With an un-emotive footnote saying that FoxRockx policy is to eradicate archived articles if requested by their author for whatever reason. Game over. But public criticism?! For what purpose?

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
