>>>I am trying to upload a new picture to the UT and keep getting an error message saying the picture is bigger than the expected limits. Have tried cropping the original picture to 53 pixels wide by 44 high, and also vice versa, and get the same error message either way. Is there some limit on the size of the file? It is only 26K. What am I doing wrong?

>>I don't know how you're cropping, but the file size is much larger than it should be. A bitmap image 53 x 44 x 3 bytes (24 bit) per pixel is 6,996 bytes, or just under 7K. A .jpg file will probably be smaller than that.

>Hmmm, maybe that's it. I don't see anything in the UT's picture upload section about the file size limit. 26K per member doesn't seem like a lot of data, but who knows? I will try fiddling with the editing software some more to see if I can get the file size down. Am using the trial version of Photoshop GS2 and know next to nothing about it.

Hi, Mike.

As Michel said, it seems Photoshop is adding so much metadata to the image that the file syze is probably many times the actual image. I recommend you Paint.Net (http://www.getpaint.net). It is totally free, Open source, and it is extremely fast an easy to use. It is the perfect replacement for the oooold Windows Paint.

Alternatively, you can send me the photo (to martin AT salias.com.ar) and I can resize it and send it back.
