Developers tend to sit a lot :o) For long hours as well. I used to be better at getting outside and running but weather can put a halt to that. Personally I think getting a 'buddy' and joining a gym is the best option. Someone to prod you on to go when you least want to. I invested in a treadmill which I use religiously. However, for some people who have problems with their ankles or knees, it may not be an option. It is great for having the option to exercise at anytime day or night and not be limited by the hours of a gym. I am looking at elliptical machines next (better for ankles and knees).

I watch exercise videos and actually do them at least 3 times a week as well. Some are better than others. I think trying some might be a good option. You might find a couple you would actually be willing to do on a regular basis.

As to the diet, actually make a log of everything you eat for a few days. You may be surprised and if you have to exercise everytime you eat one of your favorite meals, you will appreciate it more :o) Also, try NOT eating after 6 pm (just a little later if you cannot get home to dinner before).
