Was the contract in England? I only ask, because here in the states the temperature and humidity levels of one state can vary drastically from another. I've been to Los Angeles and other California towns (I did live there twice) and compared to here, it is generally much milder. Even much better further north in Oregon. I rode a bike to work on many days when I was living in Portland (when it wasn't raining or snowing). However it can get over 100 degrees in LA.

I know a bicyclist who drives one day a week and on that day he brings in 4 days worth of outfits that he picks up from the cleaners that morning enroute. During the week he cycles and when he gets to work he selects an outfit from the 4 he brought on Monday morning. He rides at a slow speed to keep cool on the way in and pushes it for exercise on the way home. At the end of the week he stuffs them all in a bag that he drops off at a cleaners enroute to his home and picks them up on Monday morning again for the week.

Not sure what he does about showering. I suspect he takes it easy on the way in for that reason.

>>I moved a couple months ago and ended up significantly closer to work. The distance is 5 miles. Because I now live "over the hill" so to speak, the temperature will be significantly higher then the "other side of the hill", where i used to live.

>>I'm thinking of alternatives to getting to work. I can potentially ride my bike. But there's no shower at work, and I'm concerned since i tend to sweat alot. I've had people recommend having some baby wipes at my desk, and just swabbing myself down a little and changing my shirt before work.

>>I've also been investigating Scooters. In the 50cc to 125cc range. Although it seems 125 is the better option. There's actually a scooter store across the street from me now. But they sell higher end 125cc scooters. The 50cc's didn't sell for them. Their prices start in the low 3,000s. I've seen Chinese import scooters that have good specs in the $1,500-$1,800 price range.
>>
>>I'm looking for any input that might help me to make a decision.

>I had a contract I could cycle to a couple of years ago. I've never felt fitter. No showers there either. I used to take a change of clothes in a back pack. Plus as you get fitter you'll sweat less. Take it easy on the way to work to keep the heat down then really push it on the way home and hop in the shower when you get there.
