>hi all,
>for my sins i have vista (honeymoon is definitely over) and am having real trouble transferring files to a memory key. I have to copy 39,000 pdf files to a customer so i thought my 4gb key would suffice, the files come to less that 1 gb in total. I tried copy and paste with the entire folder but that failed, i put this down to vista and its 'advanced' file handling ability. I then started to copy the files in blocks of a few thousand. I've gotten to 16,000 or so and now it will not let me copy in any more pdf files. I can copy in other types of files though! the folder is taking up 1gb on the memory stick even the files come to 380mb or so. I did a defrag on an XP machine in case that was the problem and the XP machine says its defraged but in vista no change. any help welcome.

I'm guessing that your real problem is that a 4GB stick is formatted as FAT32. I don't know if there's a way to change it.

I also don't know if a 8GB stick might be NTFS, but I'd say there's a good chance it would be. If you have a 8GB stick, try that.

By the way, SP1 for Vista is said to have a few improvements for file copying the USSB sticks.

Good luck
