I'm with you on this one. While I think that rehabilitation should be the goal with youth offenders, though some of them are just as deadly. Their only saving grace is the fact that they are young and make stupid decisions and are the product of their families and environment. Truly horrific crimes though should keep someone off the streets no matter the age when they were committed. I think humans have an innate sense of right and wrong unless they are lacking in empathy completely in which case no matter the age, they belong off the streets. For adults, if you are sentenced to 12 years and you are a repeat offender or the crime was violent, then it should be 12 years period. If it's life, then life it is.

>>>>Because life imprisonment should mean life imprisonment. PERIOD.

>>>Absolutely. Although giver them a choice of early death (by approved execution means) if they want..

>>I know I have asked this before but what has made you so angry? Having a million faults of my own I am not being judgmental but I am curious. You seem really mad about things.

>I think it may have something to do with being fed up with the political correctness crap. Someone is out there committing all these crimes, but the libs don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by accusing them of the murder, rape, robbery, etc. And, if the person does get convicted, it will be a sentence to remedial something school, where they will help them with their self esteem. It might also have something to do with the frustration over people getting sentenced to "life" in prison and then finding out that means 12 years.

>I'm not mad about it, but I am frustrated with the "criminal justice" system, to the point that I do a local radio segment every week to help address the repeat offender problem. We had a guy who had been arrested 449 times, and there are 139 others who have been arrested 100 times or more. Anarchy is what we have today, in a semi-controlled sort of way. In Memphis, we have over 52,000 people who have been arrested between 6 and 15 times. This stuff is enough to make you mad!
