Here is a far better obit for those who are interested. It goes into his deep seated distrust -- contempt, really -- of the establishment and hypocrisy. He had no use for the social lubricants that make everyday life a little easier and more use than was good for him for other lubricants. He became a pretty angry and apparently unhappy man in his later years, which is ironic considering how many laughs he gave others. One thing no one can say is he was untrue to himself.
