>>>Has anyone had any luck with getting Oliver to respond? It appears it's more likely you'd be able to move a mountain. I am trying to find out if I can run Cryptor 4 under Win2K3. It reports that the FLL is invalid. I might be able to use the DLL directly. Haven't tried that, yet, but I did notice that Doug Hennig had created a wrapper for doing just that. Or I could upgrade to 5 if it will run under Win2K3. The product works well. I rarely need support, however the lack of responses has made me want to start looking at alternatives. So I guess there's the first question in the first sentence and then there's the issue of which version, if any, will work under Win2K3. Anyone have any thoughts on these issues?

>Thanks, Tamar. I don't know what's up with them. It seems like they just don't care anymore and I'm hesitant to use a product where the developer will not respond (a number of people are reporting this).

Here's the message I sent to Xitech:

I'm hoping you can help me sort out what has become a complex problem for me.

I have a client using Cryptor 5.0 in a vertical market application. We've had the application running with VFP under versions of Windows up to XP. We're now in the process of moving to VFP 9 and need to support Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003, as well as XP.

I'm building the setup for this application with InnoSetup. To deal with Vista, I changed from auto-registering Cryptor to manually adding all the necessary Registry keys. With that set-up, the app installs and runs on both Windows XP and Windows Vista.

However, I also need to support Windows Server 2003. When my client attempts to install in that environment, he gets an error about being unable to install xicr50.dll. He's tried manually registering and gets "LoadLibrary (“xicr50.dll”)failed – invalid access to memory location." (Full disclosure: I've tried installing on a virtual Windows Server 2003 machine and had no problems, but that doesn't solve the client's problem.)

A little research turned up the solution of changing ".xitech" to ".aspack" in the Cryptor DLL. I've tried that, and when I do so, I can install (though I haven't yet had the client try in the Windows Server environment). However, Cryptor fails to instantiate after that installation. When I try to instantiate it directly, I get "OLE error code 0x8000703e6: invalid access to memory location."

Can you make any recommendations so that I can put together a single installation package that will work in Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Server?
