I have a customer who has difficulty running my FP26 Dos app on a new IBM
Thinkpad. The program locks up when my user presses the downarrow, etc.
I could find no fix on DejaNews. Mary Barton pointed out the problem is
with "Cardworks" program IBM installed for PCMCIA cards. My fox app will
work if I remark out the PCIA device driver "cardxtnd.sys" from the
config.sys. However, my customer needs this file for printing.
I have 2 solutions so far:
1- Restart Win95 in Dos and run from there.
2- Have 2 different config.sys files to choose from at boot up. One would
have the cardxtnd.sys device driver remarked out.
However, I'm looking for a better solution because I don't want to force my
Thinkpad customers to reboot everytime they run my app. My customer was told
that the PCIA card is taking memory for itself first, and that Fox is trying
to address the same memory.
Does anyone have a resolution for this?
P.S. I have also posted this on the microsoft.programmers newsgroup. Is it considered acceptable to post the same message in the 2 newsgroups. I really need a solution here, so I want to reach as many gurus as possible.
