>>>>>>Hi Walter,

>>>>>>>>Keep talking, Perry. You're a poster child as to why no one with concerns for their country and it's future should ever vote leftist.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Can someone please explain why all other western countries are far more leftish than even your own left wing and currently are doing far better than the US on about every front?? The US economy is bogged down under the ongoing war on terror .... (uh um), a tremendous dept to the asian express, the financial crisis on the house market, continueing outsourcing and devaluation of the dollar. The past 8 years has lost a lot of credibility on adhering human rights (ignoring the geneva convention), the lies arround starting the iraqi war. Further the milestone of having 1 percent of your citizens imprisoned and crime rates that makes some 3rd world countries jealous, the skyhigh gasprices, the 2 party political system (tight into the corporate world, rather than being independed), the media that are hardly independed (most of them are bound to a certain political party) and the overall willingness (or unability) to do anything progressive

>>>>>Haha, my daughter just returned from a 6 week excursion through Europe. She went from Amsterdam, to Spain, via Germany, Belgum, Austria, Italy, and Turkey. She said she hasd a great time, learned a lot, and would love to do it again. She also said the people over there don't bath but once a week. Dang! They don't have many of the amenities that we take for granted here in the US. Yet, I keep hearing all these people saying we should be more like Europeans. I think I'll keep my US citinship for a while longer.
>>>>
>>>>Surely you aren't really saying only the U.S. has the technology for showering and bathing.
>>>
>>>The point is that I hear all these Europeans telling us how we need to emulate them, and the reality is, they are just jealous of our country, and our way of life. I can't really blame them though. Who would want to pay 10.00 a gallon for gas, then get taxed for each mile you drive?

>>Don't look now John. I hear your fuel is going up and I've read a couple of pieces in the news here about Americans abandoning their cars and becoming more Yerpeen. Doing crazy stuff like walking and cycling and wanting to live near where they work. You may be American but you kids will be ours :-) (though cleaner)
>
>I doubt it. You see, our country is more than 50 miles wide! Are you saying that, like the people in the countries my daughter visited, you don't bath more than once a week? I thought the English system is where we got our notion of being clean?<g>

Maybe they where pulling your daughters leg. Anyway I don't need to shower every day. Most days it rains and then I can rub myself dry on someone a bit cleaner on the tube.

My son is planning to cycle across the US next year I expect he'll take a bath when he's about half way. (unless he's not got very sweaty in which case he needn't bother.)
