My daughter was speaking from first nose experience. She said some of the people smelled so bad, she almost threw up. I guess it's what you are used to. I'm used to the homeless/drunks/winos smelling like that, but not the general population. We bath/shower EVERY day, as a rule. And most people use deodorant.
