Considering the other choice was Gerald Ford, I would not be surprised if he had received all the votes in this country (except for those who vote for a party no matter what). Also, although he had experience as a Governor, I remember that he was considered fresh and new and a change from old politics back then. I was 16 in 1976 and unable to vote but I was very active in politics back then.
