Combined with your other thread about stripping comments out of your code, it sounds like you have been legally compelled to provide source code against your will.

I've seen developers pull stunts like this before. The thinking seems to be:

- I'll give them .SPRs and .MPRs - these can be compiled to .SPX/.MPX so I'm meeting the letter of the law in providing "source" code. However, I'm not providing the .SCX/T or MNX/T so it'll be hard for them to maintain the app

- I'll strip out my comments to make it harder to maintain as well

I advise against doing this:

- You have posted your intentions on a public forum. If your legal opponents discover these threads you may be subject to further legal action.

- Actions like this will give you a provable and deserved reputation for vindictiveness and unprofessional behaviour. To prospective employers and clients this is far more important than any technical skills you may have and will cause serious damage to your career or business.

I advise you to comply graciously with any legal obligations, and move on. Almost everyone in business has encountered legal setbacks and understands this is one of the aspects of "doing business". Having received poor legal advice is hardly unique. It is not a serious stain as long as you learn from the experience. Try not to make it personal.

Although it may be unlikely in your case, it's not impossible that your legal opponents may want to hire you to help transition the code to their staff. This can happen only if you act graciously and professionally.

While it may be difficult to do in the midst of a dispute, I urge you to take the long view, and not give your opponents any ammunition with which they could cause further damage.
Regards. Al
