No surprise there. The NFL likes its players meek -- except on the field, of course. Even transgressions as mild as Taylor's trying to set himself up for an entertainment career after football are treated as acts of insufficient servitude. Like he didn't sing the company song loudly enough. The players make a heck of a lot of money (for a few years, anyway) and are awash in fame and adulation, so no one is going to feel too sorry for them, including me. Still, what a deeply paternalistic league. They would have been great plantation owners.
