Yeah, there's that. I think it's more indicative of Parcell's wanting to brand the team his way than anything else. Taylor was going to be himself and Parcell doesn't want players who have a life. Huizenga, the owner, loves Taylor. I think Jason has a good career ahead of him, in and out of football, and his charitable contributions to the underprivileged are well documented.

Even transgressions as mild as Taylor's trying to set himself up for an entertainment career after football are treated as acts of insufficient servitude. Like he didn't sing the company song loudly enough. The players make a heck of a lot of money (for a few years, anyway) and are awash in fame and adulation, so no one is going to feel too sorry for them, including me. Still, what a deeply paternalistic league. They would have been great plantation owners.
