We run into this when a user starts our internal back up process or export that allows them to choose a folder via a Fox dialog and if they choose a folder that is locked by UAC we do not know this when they pick the folder nor do we want to check each and every folder. We run a simple FOPEN() on file names ( if exists for a write over ) and post Read-only warnings, but that does not detect UAC issues. We had rather check to see if UAC is turned on and if so them warn them that some folders may not be writable and let them re-select the folder.
The problem with changing permissions is we also catch a lot of flack from OCD IT guys every time we propose letting us do things like that so we do not even try anymore.
