Well I'd be more concerned about the national dept rather than the short term influences of increased tax. The national dept is something you'll pass to your children. The tax you pay could be the savings for your children. The national dept is something very dangerous that could lead a country into bankrupcy, Taxes don't. Noone wants to pay taxes, but they serve the purpose to fund things that are (hopefully) beneficial to all citizens.
