> Printer drivers are always a possibility ... and HP is one that is famous for not playing nice! My HP worked fine .. until I upgraded to Vista. Now certain features don't work right on the printer ...and it really ticks me off.
Are you sure that's not because of Vista? <g>
I remembered that I still had VFP 9 on my old laptop here so I tested the same code with 4 other printer drivers -- all of them HP. The HP 990c, HP 4P and the HP4Si drivers all handled the
Print Report <myReport> To File <myFile> Noconsole
command without error regardless of Set Reportbehavior. However, the HP PSC 2200 Series driver (also a multi-function printer) hung just like the HP J6450 that I is installed on this machine. It looks like the problem IS with the driver after all.
Like you, I have had some other issues that are clearly driver related--tray assignments in the HP 2430 are not as documented, for example--but I have usually found that HP is much more willing to work with me to resolve them than most manufacturers. If I need to print to file without the ASCII clause, I will install the driver for the HP 990c. It's somewhat of a universal HP driver that comes with XP and doesn't take up any disk space (some of the drivers for multifunction printers are over 350 MB!) I use the 990c driver to print wirelessly to the J6450.
