Deja vu. My aunt was chairman of the democratic party in Missouri. I spent a lot of time listening to the party's views and to the visceration of the other party. Then I looked at the other side. The same thing. I settled on the Libertarian in the long run (mostly due to my strong feelings of small government, less taxation, little interference in our daily lives, and land rights). The last few years though I became extremely disenchanted with that party as well. I couldn't register independent here because NC has an 'Independent' political party! So it's non-affiliated for me.

>My Republican upbringing??? My parents are (were) life-long Blue Dog Democrats. I am a libertarian. I'm anti-victimless crimes, for decriminalizing recreational drug use, and vehemently against any federal abortion legislation for or against. I'm also anti constitutional marriage amendment and strongly in favor of civil unions with 100% of the same rights to healthcare and inheritance as regular marriages.

>Boy, do you misread me.

>>BTW, don't be in denial. You say you are libertarian but I'm not sure your Republican upbringing is undyed. You are no less apoplectic about Obama being elected than John H.
