Sure, I can be mistaken for a Republican shill. Doesn't make me one. And I *do* think Palin is a great choice for many reasons and it's not like I'm in the minority thinking that way. It's a daring, in-your-face selection but the more I read about her the more I like her and the more I think this is exactly the type of politician we need in Washington.

I can't guarantee anything but I think the bounce McCain will get over the next week will astound both of us - hurricanes permitting.

Obama made a milquetoast choice with Biden. He won't help nor hurt. If he had put the egos and mistrust aside and asked Hillary to join the ticket this election would be over.

This is shaping out to be an exciting time to be a voter, eh?

>Maybe I do. I say all of this thinking of you as one of the good guys. All I will suggest is that you reread some of your posts and consider whether the average reader might mistake you for a Republican partisan. How you can think Sarah Palin is a great choice, for instance. She's pleasant, she's admirable, it was surprising. But really, WTF? Not a very good signal of McCain's leadership potential IMO.

>Then again, Joe Biden wasn't a reassuring choice, either. Fair enough. VP nominees have about 3 months of shelf life, unless they turn out to be the anomalies like LBJ or Dick Cheney who turn out to be important. It's Obama and McCain we should focus on.

>>My Republican upbringing??? My parents are (were) life-long Blue Dog Democrats. I am a libertarian. I'm anti-victimless crimes, for decriminalizing recreational drug use, and vehemently against any federal abortion legislation for or against. I'm also anti constitutional marriage amendment and strongly in favor of civil unions with 100% of the same rights to healthcare and inheritance as regular marriages.

>>For me, I'd draw an analogy to a Green who waxes enthusiastically about a Democratic candidate I suppose.
>>
>>Boy, do you misread me.
>>
>>>BTW, don't be in denial. You say you are libertarian but I'm not sure your Republican upbringing is undyed. You are no less apoplectic about Obama being elected than John H.
