>The level of scrutiny that Palin is under is incredible. Far more than either of the other 3 Prez and VP candidates. I don't understand why and the only conclusion I can reasonably come to is what I said in another thread Friday or Saturday and that is that she is such a threat to the status quo that the media puts her on a hit list.
I think it's because she came out of nowhere, the obscure governor of an arguably obscure state. She's never been in the national spotlight before, so never really been scrutinized.
The others have a long (for McCain and Biden) or medium (for Obama) history of public service and have faced scrutiny throughout that time. Even Obama's been in the national spotlight for four years already, not just a week.
Palin certainly didn't help by starting out with mischaracterizations of some of her actions (such as the Bridge to Nowhere).

>I could be wrong but many folks on the right suspected that the media was in the tank for Obama for months. I was willing to give them (the media) the benefit of the doubt until I saw the immediate mobilization to dig dirt on her. There's a palpable and naked aggression against her and already the media has had to retract several stories they rushed to print about her.
I keep hearing that the media doesn't scrutinize Obama, yet we've had the Wright story, the Ayres story, and lots more. What is it that you or others on the right think is being hidden?
As for Palin, what has the _mainstream_ media had to retract? Yeah, there was the rumor about her baby, but the media never printed that as fact.
