Thanks, Mike.

The level of scrutiny that Palin is under is incredible. Far more than either of the other 3 Prez and VP candidates. I don't understand why and the only conclusion I can reasonably come to is what I said in another thread Friday or Saturday and that is that she is such a threat to the status quo that the media puts her on a hit list.

I could be wrong but many folks on the right suspected that the media was in the tank for Obama for months. I was willing to give them (the media) the benefit of the doubt until I saw the immediate mobilization to dig dirt on her. There's a palpable and naked aggression against her and already the media has had to retract several stories they rushed to print about her.

Again, I could be wrong, but I feel like that the hostile media may only be aiding the McCain camp because your average American intuitively knows what's fair. The media tried to make a stink about Cheney's lesbian daughter in 2004 (why?) and it backfired.

>Actually I do feel badly about starting this thread. It was a cheap shot at Sarah Palin. Although as you know I am a Democrat, and more emotionally invested in this election than usual, I do not think of myself as a blind partisan from the no-holds-barred school. Posting the link to the article about Palin's college career was a low blow. Actually I agree with you that it's to her credit that she persevered and got her degree, and went on to accomplish things in life. And I know nothing about her finances or family circumstances at the time, only that she was bouncing around a lot. There's nothing that says Presidents have to be Ivies or Rhodes scholars who graduate at the top of their class. (Some of those "best and brightest" have proven to be less than stellar Presidents, I think we can agree on that). So anyway, mea culpa. I keep saying I want a higher level of discourse in our elections and should practice what I preach.
