>I've wondered about charity similarly. Specifically with cancer research: when I see funding efforts for lung or breast cancer I'm curious about why it's a particular organ or gland. Is it because the whole nature of each is so different from the others? Or could I, for example, when making a contribution to breast cancer charities specify on my check that it is for "right only" or "left only"?

There are specific research foundations for different types of cancers. That is mostly the reason for the specifics. You may have a family member who suffered from pancreatic cancer and want your money to go to funding research for that specific type of cancer.

On the subject of charities, there are many many charities that focus on a specific group: hispanic charities, asian charities, arab charities, african-american charities, etc. They are usually coordinated by successful business people who are in the same group. I see no problem with that. I was curious because Tamar has stressed what a mixed area she is in so I thought the charity would likely focus on those in need in that area rather than a specific race, ethnicity, heritage, or religion...It was just curiosity on my part. Tamar goes out of her way to help people who she knows may benefit from her help from all walks of life. She doesn't broadcast it, but she does do it and that is what counts.
