>>>Right you are. And FWIW I hated that movie - Tom Cruise was so smarmy and smug. If you compare his character with young Fast Eddie in "The Huster" (and the overall tone of the two movies) the difference is really pronounced (though in fairness I watched The Color of Money recently and didn't hate it as much - maybe this time I let Mary Elizabeth Mastroantonnio get to me ;-)

>>If you're going to worry about comparing Cruise's work in 'Color' with Newman's in 'Hustler', or even try to compare the movies themselves, you are going to grow into a very frustrated old man. ;)

>>Seriously, everything about 'The Hustler' was great. George C. Scott.. well, it's hard to believe anybody could be that good. Didn't you just hate him? A lot like his role in 'Anatomy of a Murder'. He was so good in that, that I wanted to put my foot through the tv when I first saw it many many moons ago.

>Yeah, The Hustler was something very special. I think it was the first movie I ever saw at the theater more than once ( the next was McCabe and Mrs Miller and then The Duellists )

I must have watched "Absence of Malice" and "Nobody's Fool" at least 10 times apiece (mostly on video). Not to mention "Butch Cassidy" and "Slap Shot". Puttin' on the foil, coach....
