When I try to open any of these tables in VFP 9 I get message "Duplicate field names". I tried to open these tables in dBase III but I get message "not a dBase database"

As far as I know, for dBase version 2 files, VFP can open it even with duplicate field names, and allow to browse. But anyway VFP will not be able to work with this table.
I would try to open dBase file in Excel, convert it to appropriate format and/or fix field names.
