From my pov, the US policy makers are spreading FUD about Russia, making more fuss than neccesary. Is russia seeking to be a world power again? Certainly yes. But looking at history, the west was more a threat to Russia than Russia to the west. And given the massive bloody wars they had to fight, there is every reason to it.
