Your problem probably has to do with either file corruption or the resolution settings of your computers. As for jpg being better than bmp, it's not for quality graphics because it actually loses some of the image due to compression. However, you can store many more and they will display much faster than a bmp. Unless I had to have the graphic resolution, I wouldn't even think of using bmp over jpg. Just my opinion.
