Then you use that argument as an excuse. THERE IS NO EXCUSE and yes, I meant the shouting.

>>My almost-sponsor is gong through some stuff of his own. He first declined because, his words, he has been going to meetings for 18 years and has only been sober for one of them. He also has 4 broken vertebrae, which I have seen with my own eyes. (Well, no, I have not seen the vertebrae, just the limping).

>If they guy has 18 years of meetings and 1 year of soberness perhaps there is a better sponser out there for you. Seems like if you showed up at a meeting or even called one of the AA groups someone could hook ya up with a temporary sponser. If nothing else it would help get ya over the hump....

The group leader has offered to be my temporary sponsor and four guys have offered to be my real sponsor. I told one I would, then got cold feet because it was buying into the whole program. He said we need to get together tomorrow and start working the steps. Like it was a math problem I hadn't been able to work out. I'm just not there yet.

That's funny about a homosexual with a female sponsor. Almost sounds like a sitcom, doesn't it?

It is the next morning now and I am no longer drunk. I started rereading this thread and then stopped. I don't like the person I am when I drink. Melodramatic, angry, self-pitying. What a loser. One thing I hear over and over at AA is how different people were when they were drunk. In many cases they have been sober for years and it's hard for me to picture the person they describe. I want what they have. I want to be sober all the time, not just getting better.

Thanks to all for your comments. And another apology to Tracy.
