You might try opening the case and seeing if there is more than 1/2" of dust on the motherboard and everything else. In my experience, the ususally is caused by overheating, as in the cpu fan died, the power supply fan died, or the cpu or motherboard dies. I have seen it where there is a short between the case and the motherboard.

You might want to try cleaning the motherboard, cpu and such with a can of compressed air and a vacuum, or just the vacuum.
