The Netherlands did not exists at that time yet. It was a collection of little kingdoms that were fighting eachother and occasionally were totally run over by other countries (e.g. Romans, Germans, French and Spanish). Most jews never reached Holland at that time (The western part of the current Netherlands). Jews we expelled in large parts of europe because of the cathlic church (blaming the jews for the death of christ) and the spanish inquisition. Yeah, I know, religion is great ....

So if that were the case, it would be acceptable to host them in much of western europe. Still there are still living quite a few jews up here.
